Government is Rolling out Regulations to tighten the grip over OTT Platforms

In a significant move Government of India is planning to monitor OTT Contents.

Key Highlights:

• Under the framework of  Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 Government of India is bringing about detailed guidelines for digital content (OTT).
• Three Tier Grievance Redressal Mechanism
• Complaint will have to be addressed within 15 days.

However, these regulations met with some resistance from social media activists and journalists.
